Old Relative Not Happy About Push To Use Ipads Etc

i was in a close relatives house yesterday and she was having angry and resentful at the push to use electronic devices at the meetings.

she was talking to another relative of mine who has just got an ipad to use.

this relative of mine is very elderly and obviously prefers to use her bible and other books.

She said she hates all the changes! I'm not sure if she knows about the calendar being discontinued yet. I of course couldn't say anything about it. 'I know nothing'.

No more calendar, really? When will this happen and why?

I'm getting baptized

i know i've started similar topics before but this time i'm serious.

my parents have been constantly pressuring me and after yesterday's watchtower study they asked me if i was going to be baptized this summer... and i said yes.

i probably should have thought about it more before making a final decision, but they're pretty much forcing me to do it anyway.

Do they still do the 100 or so baptismal questions? Maybe you can give the "wrong" answers and flunk them? Feign ignorance? I don't know, I'm just trying to think of something that will buy you some time. I'm so sorry you're being pressured.

Ugh. That gives me flashbacks to the evening witnessing I was forced to do as a kid. Do they still do that? Screwed my whole day up. I preferred Saturday mornings where we got out and got it done and over with.

Has anyone ever been converted due to phone witnessing or letter writing? My mom searches the newspaper obits for addresses of the deceased to send JW junk mail and she's done this for years, maybe decades by now. To my knowledge she has never started a bible study this way. Why are preaching methods that are clearly ineffective still being encouraged? The cynical part of me thinks it's less about making converts and more about numbers and phone/letter witnessing are easy ways to rack up lots of time.

i was reading the thread "problem with likes/dislikes" and i don't understand the issue.

if you don't want your posts disliked, all you do go to your profile and uncheck the box next to the option that says "allow my posts to be rated.

" unfortunately this removes the options to have your posts liked as well but it's fair when you think about it.

Maybe some of you board veterans haven't checked your profile in awhile but I did this when I first registered and haven't had one dislike. I am undislikeable, to coin a new term. Try to dislike me and you'll see what I'm taking about.

Some of those speakers appear to be penis impaired. Why are they directly addressing an audience by themselves? And there's no handkerchief, McDonald's napkin or diaper on their heads. Blasphemous!
